Hurricane Season - Hurricane Milton
Dear Faculty, Staff, and Families of the Diocese of St. Augustine,

Diocesan leadership has been preparing for the hurricane season and assisting all diocesan entities in preparation. As you know hurricane season officially began on June 1 and ends on November 30. We have already experienced Hurricane Helene this year.

We continue monitoring Hurricane Milton as he moves toward Florida with a large cone of uncertainty. The National Hurricane Center is anticipating that Milton will become a major hurricane tomorrow before making landfall in Florida on Wednesday. We will be monitoring the storm as we are anticipating potential weather impacts to our area in the next few days. We will also be monitoring local and state Emergency Operations Centers as well as the Florida Department of Emergency Management.

We do plan to decide if school closures are necessary later in the week. All of our counties have already been placed in a state of emergency by the Governor. We want you to know that decisions are not made lightly, and we know that for our families a closure has ramifications for you as well.
Your school and the diocese will also make use of our ParentAlert System (email, voice messaging, and text messaging) for communicating information to all families in addition to this website.

Be sure that your family has a hurricane plan ready and that you have prepped for the potential of this storm.

May God bless you and your families,

The Office of the Superintendent
